The Festival of Orthodox Culture "The Celebration Bells"

5 - 9 july, 2014, Tikhvin


The festival "The Celebration Bells" devoted to the Day of Tikhvin Icon of the Mother of God appearance takes central place in the celebration of the City Day.

To participate in the festival folklore groups, bell-ringers, amateur creative teams and 130 masters of decorative and applied art will come from various regions of Russia.

Within the framework of "The Celebration Bells" competitions of masters of decorative and applied art, the festival of rural settlements, concerts of bell music and literary meetings are held.

Tikhvin is a member of international Hanseatic League and the Union of Russian Hanseatic cities. Since 2011, in time of the celebration of the City Day an interactive playground "Hanseatic town" operates.

At the Day of Tikhvin Icon of the Mother of God appearance (July 9) in the Orthodox parishes of the city Divine liturgies, the all-night vigils and prayer services are held.

Believers and pilgrims take part in cross processions at the city territory. In 2014, Tikhvin will mark the 10-th anniversary of the return of Tikhvin Icon of the Mother of God to its cloister – to Tikhvin Monastery of Mother of God.
